Frequently Asked Questions

Thank you for considering our fishing family for your Copper River Salmon purchase.
Take Care, Sarah & Rick

How much should I order?

First answer: 14 lb would fit nicely under the mid-shelf in a traditional household refrigerator with the freezer portion located on top. The larger the quantity you order the better the per lb cost of Fed Ex shipping. You see this reflected in the lower per lb Fed Ex shipping prices on larger orders.
Second Answer: This varies by household and appetites. Rick and Sarah easily share 1.25 lb of CR King and at times 1.5 lb Sockeye Salmon for dinner. That being said we are both hearty eaters with AK sized appetites. Smaller appetites would do well with .50 lb or less. Keeping in mind that our CR King is very rich.

How long will it last in my freezer?

This depends on the quality of your freezer, your settings, how often you open it, or fail to close it. Easily you have 6 months. With lower temp settings and infrequent auto defrosts you could still have a very nice piece of fish some 8 months later. And I have had feed back from people that have come across a package of our fish over a year later in the back of their freezer with very pleasant results after cooking.

Can I place an order over the winter holidays?

Sorry, no. We only harvest Copper River Salmon during the summer months. We produce our frozen product in small batches during the harvest season. After we sell out of our last batch in late summer we are sold out until the following spring when the fishing season begins again.

First Fish vs Mid Season Fish?

FIRST FISH
Our "first fish" offerings are just that. The first fish we catch shipped immediately. Just as our early summer harvest season begins.
As soon as we catch these fish orders are filled and shipped in the order they were received. Like many first of the season limited availability food items our first fish prices are higher than our mid season delivery prices. Quality is exceptional in both instances.

MID SEASON FISH
Our mid season fish are handled with the same care and consideration as our "first fish" during a time when we typically have a more consistent catch volume. By consolidating the majority of our shipments into a midseason ship date we are able to reduce our time and overhead on each shipment. We pass this savings on to you. If you don't mind the wait selecting product from our Mid Season fish is the frugal choice.
We do not have a guaranteed ship date but will contact you prior to shipment when the time gets nearer. Likely delivery by the first week of July.

Plays well with sesame oil, ginger, curry and coconut milk but also enjoys lavender, thyme and sea salt. So many options...
